Planet-Friendly Passports: Initiatives for Responsible Travel

Written by Avanti Destinations | Apr 24, 2025 4:00:00 PM

As tourism evolves and changes, the importance of supporting positive social, environmental, and economic practices is at the forefront of the industry. As a small business who has built strong relationships with global partners for over 43 years, we are dedicated to fostering a caring and harmonious form of tourism that positively impacts communities. In celebration of Earth Day, we are announcing the official launch of the Avanti Footprint – an ongoing initiative to provide and showcase products that make efforts toward a sustainable approach. Whether it’s a property that utilizes renewable energy, a tour that focuses on regionally sourced goods, or a business whose profits have a beneficial impact on local economies, we are making hundreds of these products accessible and identifiable on our Avanti Portal. Discover more about our select hotels, experiences, and transfers below!

Tours & Experiences

Walking Tours. Discovering a destination on foot is a healthy way to explore a city and support sustainability. Walking tours help reduce the number of vehicles on the road, lowering congestion, pollution, and noise, resulting in a much smaller ecological footprint. Being able to venture into areas inaccessible by car also reveals charming streets, local shops, and unique sights travelers may have otherwise missed.

Award-Winning Sustainability. We are honored to work with certain suppliers who have been acknowledged locally for their responsible sustainability efforts. Our Private Ballykilcavan Farm and Brewery Food Tour includes a visit to a brewery that has won 8 National Sustainability Awards, including Environmental Farmer of the Year, Best Sustainable Business, and Best Small Food Producer.

Community Impact. To honor and support communities, we offer opportunities for travelers to positively benefit local economies and learn about their customs and traditions. Our Private Cultural Immersion in Misminay Tour is fully community-led, providing an opportunity to explore cultural stories and sacred places while directly supporting preservation and education.

Hotels & Properties

Many properties around the globe are making active efforts for preservation and seek to better the neighborhoods where they are located. We stay connected and follow up with our suppliers to ensure that they are keeping up with their efforts to better support the environment and their communities.

Bee Preservation. The St. Ermin's Hotel of London is home to 350,000+ bees! This supports local ecology and pollinator conservation. The property also has a Kitchen Garden that produces farm-to-table fruits and vegetables for their restaurant.

Food Rescue Program. The Palacio del Inka in Cusco works with the Peru Food Bank to recover food that would have been uneaten, reducing food waste while benefiting local people.

Coral Conservation. The Alila Manggis of Indonesia is Earthcheck Certified, recognizing the essential role that coral reefs play in the ecosystem. They started an Underwater Garden with just a few table corals and cement bells, eventually growing into a thriving home to juvenile fish stock.

Carbon Neutrality. Amsterdam's Albus Hotel was the first hotel in Europe to operate completely gas-free and CO-neutral. They also have Green Key Certification and actively take measures to reduce food waste and utilize water-saving innovations.

Transportation & Transfers

Avanti offers a wide array of transportation options, many of which connect the dots between destinations while creating a lower carbon footprint - whether you choose train transportation or opt for an electric car. Many of our suppliers around the globe offer private transfers in high-efficiency vehicles that produce fewer greenhouse gases, pollutants, and noise.

Thank you for traveling responsibly with the Avanti Footprint!
